U.S.-traded preferred stock yields have increased an average of 0.25 percent since the Tax Relief and Jobs Act was signed into law on December 20, 2017. To combat inflation, the Federal Open Market committee is widely expected to continue raising interest rates throughout 2018, boosting the dividend income of today’s preferred stock buyers. There are currently 122 high quality preferred stocks selling for an average price of $24.92 per share (investment grade, cumulative dividends). 58 of these high quality issues are now selling below their $25 par value...
